The Ocean Discovery Research Coalition grew from a student led team at Texas A&M University (Aggie Ocean Discovery), originally formed to compete in the Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE. Soon after its conception, we realized the significant deficit in existing technology capable of researching the ocean. With less than 5% of our oceans explored, we know more about the surface of Mars than we do our own ocean.
